WHAT IS A TRUMPET?
The Trumpet is a brass instrument with only 3 buttons but it can still play all of the notes! It plays mostly high notes and is used in all types of music. You’ll hear trumpets playing the melody when there is excitement and action! If you watch Star Wars, The Incredibles or Harry Potter- listen up and you’ll hear what the trumpet can do.
WHERE DOES IT FIT IN THE BAND?
The trumpet players sit up the back of the band but their sound can be heard everywhere. They are used for exciting melodies and are an important and distinct sound in the band. They fit into the top of the band sound by adding high notes into the mix.
HOW DO I KNOW IF IT'S FOR ME?
The Trumpet could be for anyone, but a trumpeter is often required to play confidently and stand out. They get regular opportunities to play solo’s and can be used in all types of music. The trumpet doesn't blend in naturally, so you have to be happy to be heard. We say “it's OK to be Strong and Wrong” while learning how to play the right notes. The trumpet might be for you if you like the idea of a strong instrument with a clear striking sound.
